Guidance step 1: Intake
If you book the assessment coaching, the first step is an intake to determine if you meet the prerequisites, preferably prior to the course. You will meet your coach in Teams or Amersfoort. Further communication is by phone, mail or online. If the outcome of the intake is positive,you can proceed. If not, you can stop or pause here. Remember to cancel your course in time.
IPMA C course
Course duration, locations and dates
This is a 4 day course, each day scheduled 2-3 weeks apart to allow you to practice and study. You will receive courseware 2-3 weeks beforehand so you can study.
Required study hours and study method
Apart from the class hours, a total of about 64 hours of self-study using the handout and e-learning. The course is interactive, discussing blocks of theory alternated with a variety in exercises such as collaborating in subgroups, pop quizzes, sample exam questions, etc.
Courseware
This consists of a printed hand-out and an e-learning with many sample exam questions.
IPMA C theoretical exam
After the IPMA C course and recommended self-study, you are ready for the theoretical exam. It takes 3 hours and consists of open questions only. If you pass, you will receive a partial certificate. After booking this exam, you will need to complete the certification within 18 months. It is therefore recommended that you (will soon) meet the required 3 years of relevant project management experience beforehand.
Guidance step 2 and 3: preparation for IPMA C assessment
After passing the theory exam, you your individual assessment coaching continues. Our IPMA coach:
Step 2: guides you in preparing the executive summary and self-assessment
Step 3: prepares the assessment interview well with you by means of a mock interview. You will receive valuable feedback
You will have 3 appointments with your coach in Teams or in Amersfoort, unless otherwise agreed. Further contact will be by e-mail and telephone.
It is best to schedule this arrangement before submitting your documents to the IPMA exam institute for your assessment application in order to get the most out of this guidance.
IPMA C assessment
The IPMA C assessment is conducted by IPMA Certificering. It entails a.o. being interviewed by 2 assessors about your projects. When you pass, you are added to the international IPMA register as a certified Certified Project Manager.

Perspective - Contextuele competenties
You might notice that these competencies are more or less the same as for IPMA D. However, at a deeper detail level subtopics are part of the IPMA C exams but not part of IPMA D exams. Moreover, IPMA C exam candidates must demonstrate more often that they not only understand the subject matter, but can also apply it to a given scenario. IPMA D candidates must prove that they understand the subject matter, but are less often required to prove that they are able to put it to practice.
